Happy New Year 2010! This is that time when many, both in the church and in the world, prophesy or predict what is going to happen in the next year.  As I think of all those who have missed the mark in the past, I believe we need greater light. Scripture gives us a much clearer picture of the future than either prediction or prophecy. 

For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, 6 that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 15:4-6  NKJV

The first Psalm declares the benefits or reading and meditating on the scriptures: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalms 1:1-3  NKJV

I believe the LORD would have us find hope in the scriptures this coming year.  We have a reading plan to guide those who will read through the Bible in 2010.  It’s dark out there.  Turn on your night light!  Read the Bible.
